The European Commission publishes proposal for
FP10
On 16 July 2025, the European Commission presented its
proposal for FP10, the tenth framework programme for research and
innovation. The programme will continue to be called 'Horizon Europe'. Set
to run from 2028 to 2034, it will according to the proposal be equipped
with a budget of around 175 billion euros — significantly more than any
previous programme. The Commission's proposal comprises four pillars:
'Excellent Science', 'Competitiveness and Society', 'Innovation' and
'European Research Area'. As with the current Horizon Europe programme,
research and innovation projects will be funded. The EIC Accelerator will
also remain in place.
The EIC Board is calling for an expansion and
a budget increase for the EIC
The EIC Board has published a series of recommendations
aimed at strengthening Europe's leading position in deep tech innovation.
These include increasing the EIC fund and optimizing operational
efficiency. To achieve these goals, the Board is calling for a significant
increase in the EIC budget and proposing the establishment of a scale-up
fund, as outlined in the EU's Start-up and Scale-up Strategy.
German start-ups successful in the EIC
Accelerator
As part of its latest evaluation round, the European
Innovation Council (EIC) selected 40 innovative startups and SMEs for EIC
Accelerator funding. Most of the selected companies are from Germany,
followed by Spain, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
European Prize for Women
Innovators
On June 17, 2025, the European Commission announced the
2026 European Women Innovators Award. There are three categories: "EIC
Women Innovators," "EIC Rising Innovators," and "EIT Women Leadership
Award." The deadline to apply is September 25, 2025. The winners will be
chosen by an independent jury of experts.
Good to know
The EIC Pre-Accelerator is exclusively for companies from
the so-called 'Widening Countries'. Germany is not one of these countries.
Therefore, companies from Germany cannot apply to the EIC
Pre-Accelerator.

The sixth edition of the European Research and Innovation
Days will take place in Brussels on September 16 and 17, 2025. This
European Commission event will bring together policymakers, researchers,
business leaders, and other innovation stakeholders to discuss how
research and innovation can boost Europe's competitiveness,
sustainability, and industrial leadership.
